This Thursday, November 17 is GiveMN.org annual Give to the Max Day! If you’re looking for a great group to support, please consider our corporate partner Helping Paws! Helping Paws, locally based in Hopkins, MN, is the organization which trains and provides service dogs for individuals with physical disabilities and veterans with PTSD. Helping Paws’ mission is, quite simply, “Furthering people’s independence and quality of life through the use of Assistance Dogs.” Your donations will be going to support the Joy Litter – seven aptly named puppies who will soon begin training to help change lives!
Helping Paws has several events going on at their facilities in Hopkins (630 12th Avenue South, Hopkins, MN 55343) throughout the day which you can stop by too! They’ll have lunch (served by DAVANNI’S of course) from 11 AM – 1 PM. A Yappy Hour from 4-6 PM. And you can view a training session 6-8 PM. Click Here To Donate!
DAVANNI’S has partnered with Helping Paws since 2013. We’ve participated in events such as their annual Wag Walk & Run 5K and this past August we held Helping Paws Day where 10% of dine-in and take-out sales went back to Helping Paws! You helped raise $5,555 in one day! Helping Paws dogs have shown up for our annual Pizzalympics competition and have visited our shops too!
Since 1988, Helping Paws has provided fully-trained, hard-working and loving “Dogs in the Blue Coats” who enhance the quality of life for their human partners, either someone with a physical disability or a veteran with PTSD. It costs nearly $30,000 to raise and train each dog. Dogs are provided to each applicant at no charge—there is only a minimal application and equipment fee of $350. By helping with many daily living tasks, these dogs support their human partner’s increased self-confidence and renewed self-esteem.
