Can You Stand the Hot?

CG INTRODUCING BUFFALO CHICKEN PRODUCTS!

On Monday, January 30, things will REALLY heat up at our Cleveland and Grand shop. That's the day C&G employees, Tara Peterson and Jill Wittenburg will be introducing their new Buffalo Chicken Pizza and Buffalo Chicken Hoagy. Both items get their unmistakable fiery taste from fresh chicken marinated overnight in hot sauce. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza, built on a traditional crust, uses hot sauce instead of tomato sauce and is then generously topped with three cheeses -- gorgonzola, cheddar and mozzarella. The hot taste of the Buffalo Chicken Hoagy is complemented by a chunky, blue cheese sauce.

These items are not for the faint of stomach. In fact, they could bring sweat to the brow and tears to the eyes. Right now, both items will ONLY be featured at our Cleveland & Grand shop. But if sales are anywhere near as hot as the products, they could be rolling out at other shops before outside temperatures get too warm....

Check out their bios:

Dan is doing his training at our Savage shop. He grew up in Eagan, before moving to Mankato for school. While Dan was attending college, he worked at Olive Garden, where he discovered he loved the restaurant business. Dan also worked at Domino's and then at Topper's Pizza. Dan came to DAVANNI'S because he wanted to interact more with customers.

Brett is doing his training at our Golden Valley shop. He comes to us with a varied background, most recently working as an Assistant Manager for D'Amico and Sons. He has also been a server with Kincaid's and worked catering events at the Mendakota Country Club. In addition to his time in the restaurant business, Brett has spent many years in the non-profit sector, filling numerous leadership roles at camps and various churches. Brett is married and has two small children. He was looking for a more reasonable schedule and better environment, which brought him to DAVANNI'S.

Chris is doing his training at our Cleveland & Grand shop, where he worked there as a driver back in the '80s and early '90s. After leaving DAVANNI'S he started with Circuit City, first selling electronics and eventually rising to store manager. Chris also worked as a general manager at Best Buy and most recently as a general manager at Gander Mountain. His family continued to be customers at DAVANNI'S and after a few conversations with Rocco, he decided to come back. Chris lives in Hopkins with his wife Lori (whom he met at DAVANNI'S) and their three kids. His son, Nick, works at our Downtown shop.

Julie is doing her training at our Minnetonka shop. She comes to us with about 16 years of management experience. She worked at SuperAmerica in her youth, Caribou Coffee, and most recently as a general manager with Leeann Chin. Julie grew up in Richfield and currently lives in Burnsville with her husband and two children.

Got Side Salads?

Entrée SALADS DOWNSIZING!

Great News on the Salad Front. Now, all seven of our award-winning Entrée Salads are available as Side Salads. If you're like me (God forbid!), you've probably said to yourself, "I'd really like an Oriental Chicken Salad, but it's just too much to eat with my Whole TBC Hoagy." But now, you can have your Side Salad and eat it too! But wait, there's more! Our Mediterranean Salad, heretofore only available only as an Entrée Salad, can now be purchased as a Side Salad and a Small and Large Group Salad! So, nobody has any excuse whatsoever to avoid eating their veggies!

Something for Everyone!

GLUTEN FREE PIZZA NOW AT 19 SHOPS!

We're answering the prayers (if not the countless requests) of our many customers who wanted to know when we were going to roll out our Gluten Free Pizza at more shops. Our Gluten Free Pizza is now available at 19 or our 21 shops. (Only Grand & Cleveland and Riverside will NOT offer Gluten Free Pizza.) The pizza is approximately 9" and available in a thin crust. And you can add all your favorite DAVANNI'S pizza toppings to it!

And keep in mind that we're doing everything we can to protect these pizzas from cross-contact with flour and other-gluten sources. We make these our Gluten Free Pizza away from the pizza bar in a designated area, using ingredients from un-used buckets/bins. Each of the 19 shops uses a "GF Kit" with isolated bowls, cutters, ladles and instructions that are pulled and used as needed. Then, the kit items are cleaned, dried and re-sealed in the air tight bin with lid until the next use and placed in a pre-designated spot. So now, DAVANNI'S is the one restaurant for every member of every family, whether there's a gluten intolerant member or not!
